Description of each G08 Award Categroy
Foreword
The Awards are the third incarnation of an industry event previously run by the organisers of Glassex.
The purpose of the Awards is to recognise individual and corporate achievement at raising and improving the standards,
performance and products of the entire industry: - glazing, fenestration and relevant construction.
The G08 Awards: 12 Categories
- Fabricator of the Year - Open to window fabricators of any material, including composites, aluminium, PVCU or timber. Any size of business can enter. While the amount of windows you produce is important but not vital, it is how you run your business, how it has grown, the quality of workmanship, your achievements to date, and how you expect to continue into the future that interests the judges.
- Installer of the Year - Open to installers of any size, any product or material and all disciplines whether they be commercial or domestic.
- Glass Company of the Year - A category open to manufacturers, processors, designers, and importers of glass.
- Conservatory Installer of the Year - of any material, timber, aluminium, PVCU (as installer)
- Training and Development Award - An award dedicated to companies that have shown clear progress in the training and development of staff, that has not only improved output and quality, but also shown direct results in raising staff standards in the fabrication, installation, and service sectors.
- Customer Care Award - In an industry that has a poor public image in customer relations, this category aims to highlight those companies that can prove the tabloids wrong. Open to all products and services.
- Health and Safety Award - As legislation calls for a healthier and safe working environment, this category aims to reward companies that have made clear progress in this area, with positive results.
- Energy Efficiency Initiative Award - A category that is very much part of the new wind of change that is sweeping the industry, open to companies employing any product, material or service.
- Promotional Campaign Award - Be it National, local or trade press or just directed at a dedicated customer base this category is open to companies of all products and sizes.
- Glass Project of the Year - New this year, a category that is designed to embrace those that have been part of a significant project using glass. Size of project is not an issue, but the creative or practical use of glass is the main criteria.
- Social Housing Project of the Year - Another new category. There are many companies in the UK who derive the majority of their income from the Social Housing and Local Authority market. This category is for those companies that have been responsible for a contract or project that has encompassed affordability, practicality and aesthetics.
- Specialist of the Year - For those companies whose operation is not covered by the more general categories. While they may fabricate, they may only fabricate a particular product. Equally they may only serve a niche market. Open to companies of all sizes.
Primary criteria: all categories.
The candidate's initial submissions for judging must arrive on or before the 15th August 2008, to enable judges to organise site visits where necessary.
Entries arriving after this date will not be considered. Assessment is by independent members of various professional bodies whose experience is relevant to the entry category. Candidates must provide a point of contact, and be accessible to the Assessors/ Verifiers or their submission[s] could be invalidated. Do not submit supporting documentation unless asked to do so - it will not be considered. Candidates may submit entries for as many Categories as they wish.
